Meet Ms. Jen!
Hi, I'm Ms. Jen! 👋
I truly believe every student has a unique musical spark waiting to be lit. My mission is to build a supportive, high-energy space where classic foundations meet modern creativity-ensuring music lessons become the absolute highlight of your child's week!
Music has been the center of my life since childhood. In elementary school, I began playing violin and piano, and joined the Riverside Academy of Music's Performing and Chamber Choirs. Through middle and high school, I stayed deeply involved in school orchestras, traditional choirs, and vocal jazz, alongside my private piano studies.
The lifelong passion led me to the Baldwin Wallace College Conservatory of Music and Cleveland State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor's of Music Education with a vocal emphasis. It was during these college years that I discovered my love for one-on-one instruction and officially began my private teaching journey. During this time, I also had the privilege of performing with the school choirs, the Cleveland Orchestra chorus, the Opera Theater, and even performing solo voice and piano at the Universitaire de Savoie in France!
After graduating, I moved from the Cleveland area to Las Vegas and accepted both a position as a public elementary school music teacher and a position at a music school teaching private lessons. I also became the director of a massive children's honor choir, leading the choir in many performances and musicals.
I believe that music and instruments should be accessible to absolutely everyone. This lead me to become a Certified Wunderkeys Instructor, a certified KiddyKeys Instructor (both specializing in early childhood piano and music development) and a featured presented at the Annual Arthrogryposis Conference, where I shared creative ways to modify and adapt instruments like the guitar, violin, drums, and recorder to fit unique physical needs. I am always open to exploring ways to make instruments and music work for any child!
After eight years in Las Vegas, I moved back home to the Cleveland area and opened Cocklin Music Studio in January of 2016. The studio has grown quickly and now proudly serves over 40 students per week across our local communities. I want music to be a lifelong love for every single student, and I cant wait to help them on their journey!
